I draw inspiration from Odysseus’ extraordinary skill in archery — a symbol of precision, patience, and inner focus.
The piece captures the silent tension and absolute focus that exist in the moment before the arrow is released.
The composition is surrounded by textured grey rocks, creating a harsh and oppressive environment that directs the eye toward the vivid orange center of the piece. In the center, Odysseus appears as an archer shooting at a target. The target contains an arrow at its center, symbolizing his precision and determination. I create the textured surfaces from foam, giving the artwork a layered and three-dimensional appearance. Everything is entirely handmade by me.
