'Sweet Wine'
60 × 35 cm
This piece is part of my Odyssey collection.
It is inspired by the episode in which Odysseus offers the Cyclops sweet wine, causing him to become drunk and lose his senses before being blinded and allowing Odysseus and his men to escape.
The artwork shows a scene filled with wine, with Odysseus and his companions trying to flee, while in the center there is a 3D log set on fire, referencing the wooden stake used to blind the Cyclops. The piece also includes an integrated switch, which activates the light inside the log and creates the flame effect.
The surface is created from toilet paper sealed with glossy varnish, giving the composition a textured and three-dimensional appearance. The red tones gradually darken from top to bottom, enhancing the depth of the scene and creating a sense of tension and descent into chaos. Subtle contrasts and shadows add movement and intensity, making the moment feel alive. Everything is entirely handmade.
